What Netlify does

Netlify's September 30, 2026 advisory covers seven Next.js vulnerabilities with different affected configurations. Some do not affect Netlify deployments; impact depends on router, build mode and caching features, not simply the hosting provider's name.

The advisory recommends Next.js 15.5.27 or 16.3.8 and @netlify/plugin-nextjs 5.16.1, followed by redeployment. The default auto-installed adapter updates on redeploy; a pinned adapter needs a manual update. Public previews and branch deployments can retain older code. These versions address this dated advisory, not every future vulnerability.

Adoption checks

  • Have the project owner match the lockfile, router and build configuration to the linked impact table. Validate an upgrade in an authorized preview, then verify the production source revision and adapter version. Inventory older public deployments separately; replacing production does not replace them. Do not delete or change deployments without approval. ShipStackLab has not independently tested these fixes; your application's impact remains UNKNOWN.
