What Windsurf (now Devin Desktop) does

Cognition's June 2, 2026 announcement renames Windsurf to Devin Desktop, combining the IDE with local and cloud agent management. The announcement says existing Windsurf users receive it through a standard update, with their plan, pricing and extensions retained at that transition.

Devin Desktop is distinct from Devin Cloud and Devin CLI. We retain the Windsurf URL so existing bookmarks and stack references continue to identify the same catalog entry. This is an identity update, not a measured upgrade recommendation.
